Summer Shoes ( Final Group Project )

Right after our ' Fuse ' project, we were briefed in the lecture hall for our final project which is to make a movie based from our prototype. Our class is divided into 3 groups and consist of 6 to 7 team members! Each of the group have to come up a script of the movie and we can choose either one of the prototype from the team members! My team, which is called Legends. along with Darren, Bryan, Nick, Kah Yee and also Sue Zhua gathered around and discussed about the genre of movies we are probably making. So, I came up with my own movie based on my own prototype which is my brush. Here are some of the photos of the synopsis and some ideation sketches about my prototype!

Movie : The Brush

After meeting up with Mr Charles at Coffee Bean, he asked us to collaborate each other and also watch some of Youtubers  and finally after days of discussing we chose Kah Yee's prototype which is her Summer Shoes! The shoes that Kah Yee designed is not only for comfort and design, the shoe Kah Yee designed created has another function too! which is to hide hidden stuff for conveniency. Darren wrote the script of the story and we took several weeks to film it and also editing it as well and believe me, the filming and editing process took forever! In addition, we decide to film an ad and we had no idea on how to film it! We're not sure about the position for us to film it, or even the lines and lighting as well! In spite of that, we managed to submit the video on time to Mr Charles and we had fun times filing it! Here are the sketches of ideation and the link below of our group's video.. Please watch it! Thanks!!

FUSE!

Its been awhile after our assignment two and now we have been tasked with another assignment which is fuse! We were briefed about it in the lecture hall and was told to come out with ' Six Thinking Hats' thing and I literally had no idea! I googled and basically, its a creative method of thinking process in a detailed and cohesive way, and in doing so to think more effectively!

Later on, we gathered around in class for tutorial and Mr Charles showed us how to use this method for our assignment. Basically, we are to combine two words, an object and an effect and from that, we expand  and give some opinions about it into six thinking hats that consist of six different colours. We have black colour which is the critic, the blue which is strategy, red with emotions, yellow with brightness and white with information. Later then, I came up with four difference ideas.

Edible Underwear

Squirting Colour Pencil

Butter Glue-Stick

Food Tumbler

Few days later, I met up with Mr Charles alone for more info and after looking some of the ideas, he asked me to choose the ' Squirting Colour Pencil ' as my prototype and from that I have to 'SCAMPER' it. Wait what? SCAMPER? Never heard of em so I went to lecture and Mr Charles showed us a video about it and here's the link below about SCAMPER in case u didn't heard about it..Enjoy!

I went back home again as usual, go straight to my study table in my hostel and started to SCAMPER! At first, I did had some hard time thinking about but after watching the video over and over again I managed to SCAMPER! It ver simple, SCAMPER stands for Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put-to-other-use, Rearrange, and from that, we sort of expand our prototype's ideation and also can choose one of the design to create a prototype! Here are some photos of my SCAMPER in case you wanna take a look of it.

Our next step after SCAMPERING is to create a prototype. At first, i bought a syringe and water colour pencil and then combine them but unfortunately it did not look presentable and I bought a brush with a little ink storage on top. Then, I poke some holes and made a little modification to the brush and inserted a shaved water colour pencil in it, which is the lead... Then, I added water into it and it works! Here are some pictures and videos on how does it work! Till then, I see you guys very soon for our next final project!

CTS Trip Getaway

Recently, our class from FID went to Refreshing Spring Resort, Tanjung Malim for our CTS's class trip for four days and three nights organised by Mr Charles. It was really an awesome and also a very memorable trip I've been!

Day One

We gathered around at 6.30 in the morning and pushed out at 7. The journey from Taylor's to Refreshing  Spring Resort is about 1 hour and a half hour. We reached the resort, paid the bills, took the keys and went straight to our chalets and it was mind blowing!

On our way to the chalet!

Right after that we have our lunch and immediately went to the river. We had so much fun in the river until spent hours in there. Despite the water is freezing cold, we still had fun with it!

Photo of us having fun in the river

And we went even further for more fun!

After having fun in the water, we went for our scrumptious dinner and then we were divided into groups to brainstorm for our project which is making a lantern which is made entirely ' natural ', and natural means by making a lantern that made out from leaves, twigs and whatnot. Before I forgot, my team consisted with Darren AKA Ho Ho Bean, Iman and Joyi! We were given some time to come out some ideas and then meeting with Mr Black which is terrifying.  After several hours of discussing for the lantern project, we finalised the lantern and then went straight to the HOT SPRING!!!!!!! The moment we had waiting for and the hot spring was so amazing! Nice and warm! We also spent several hours there chit-chatting with lectures and friends which is a good chance for us to bond with each other.

Day Two

Woke up early in the morning, having our breakfast with our tired faces on and right after that, we changed our wet suits and went straight to one kiosk for our group project  lead by Mr Andrew, Refreshing Hot Springs' trainer which is RAFTING!Before that, we did some push ups which is also lead by Mr Andrews and also, he demonstrated us on how to tie a knot. Later, we were asked to make a raft with our group members and we were to make a raft with only two tyres and some pipes, in condition, fitting all of our group in! We were given a short time to make it and after that, push it in into the lake and raft em from one end to another. Also, when we reach to another end, we were given a question and the raft back to another end to answer the question. YES, IT WAS TIRING! But it was worth it! My group and I need to raft twice because we answered the first question wrongly! UGH! But then, we got the second answer correctly! This was definitely not easy and requires A LOT of TEAMBUILDING but luckily, I have the best group ever! Not long after, we untie all the knots all together and went straight again to the river to clean our self up from the lake's dirt...

Having fun with friends!

Later on, we all went back to our chalets and take some NAP! Then, our group went for a walk around the resort and collect some leaves and twigs for our lantern project. We collected hundreds of leaves, keep them in place and make the body of the lantern at night time because we can't be bothered to even think about it besides having fun! LOL.  Several hours later, we took our dinner and then went straight again to the hot springs! Believe me, when you are in Refreshing Spring Resorts, the only thing you can do during your free time is either the RIVER, or the HOT SPRING. There's nothing there! Not even a single store and also a single bar of line! Hahaha.. But it was good for us to stay away the city and be 'Rejuvenated ' as what Mr. Charles said. Once again, we went to the hot springs for several hours, had some chit-chatting sessions and went back to our chalets to do some group project thingy.

Day Three.

As usual, woke up in the morning at 8 and have our breakfast at 8.30 and later minding our own business. We were free the whole day. But before that, we had some 'Art Appreciation' session with Mr Zainal himself. I learned so much from that session and he even thought us some art methods I have never heard before like Blind Contour Drawing and many more! We can't really enjoy the whole day that much because we need that spare time to construct the lantern and light it up by night time, after our barbecue dinner. We spent the whole day, cutting out leaves with Ho Ho Bean, Joyi and myself. On the other hand, Iman herself make the body of the lantern with our guidance. We picked some Hibiscus flowers as well to act as an decor and also some glass bottles to act as a dandling for the lantern. The dandling glass will act a mechanism which is sound! Mr Charles did said it will be a bonus points if there is a mechanism in the lantern, and why not SOUND?! We tied, and staplered the leaves and finally tied the candle together with the dandling.

Halfway there!

It took us almost 5 hours to finish making the lantern and gosh, it was not an easy task! Thank god, with the help of cooperative group members, we did it! The lantern turn out to be exactly what we visioned but then it turned up to be a little bit out-of-shape. Oh well, that's the best we can do but to be honest, our group were very satisfied with the end product though. Well, well, we have two more hours of spare time so what we were doing back there? Yes, the RIVER again! We played around the river because it's our last night in the springs.. :( We played as hard as we can even though the river is extremely cold and the water is not as clear as it used to be. We really had so much fun there!

Later that night, we had our special barbecue night together with Mr Andrew and his lovely fiancĂ©. Then, all of us head to a tree that Mr Charles chose to hang our lantern together and see whose lantern shines the brightest. After hanging our lantern,  I realise that  some groups did well also especially Bryan's group! They did a lantern of Mr Black and his beetle. Impressive! Well, Mr Charles looked around each group's lantern and he chose Bryan's group as the winner and our group as the runner up. We gathered around once again around the dining hall after that and then listened to all our lecturer's including Ms. Jack and Mr Zainal's wife singing! First time in my life listened to their singings be like :D.. It was very amazing hearing them singing with all their heart.

Bryan and his group's lantern.

Jam session!

We went back to our chalet, took a shower and gathered all together in the chalet and have fun till late night because it was the last day! We enjoyed like there was no tomorrow! We fooled around, took many pictures all together and then knocked out in the same chalet. LOL. Well, we're family. It's okay to squeeze 8 person in a chalet which technically only fit . Hahaha.

Day Four

Well, its the last day in the resort so I woke up late, having breakfast at 11 and then packed all of our belongings in the bag again. We gathered near the office and then Andrew sent us to the entrance of the resort. We gathered all together again near the hot springs to take a group photo of us and then, went back to the bus and head back to Taylor's.

All in all, it is a very educational yet fun trip! We bonded together as a team! I really enjoyed the trip very much even though all of us were very tired. I hope that there are more upcoming trips like this and with no doubts, I will definitely join the trip! Here are some of the random pics I've taken during the trip. Till then, we shall meet again for my upcoming blogpost! See ya!

KRIZ CRUZ

Kryzstof Izdebski- Cruz and his wife Natalia Cruz came all the way from Poland and exhibited their works in Taylor's CODA from 9th of October till this 31st! It was honestly a jaw dropping works especially Mr. Cruz's metal point artwork which is a drawing or a sketch that is used only metals like silver, copper, pure gold etc. Not only that, he also displayed his soft pastels and oil paintings as well which is also amazing. The reason I like his metal point works the most is because the quality of lines that he drew and most importantly he can't mess the drawings out because it can't be erased. This shows that the sketches he draw using the metal point method is flawless and also perfect.

The very next day, Mr Cruz and his wife gave an inspiring talk to us on how he applied these techniques throughout the years and it was very very very very useful for us. All in all, I would say that this displays has inspired me more and also opened my eyes about European artist's culture.. I would really look forward for more exhibitions coming soon!

Assignment 2: Mask!

So it has been weeks after our first Creative Thinking Skills's assignment and now we were assigned by Mr Charles to make a mask based on our personality. Hmmmm, interesting... So right after the lecture, Mr Charles having some Class Craft session, which is playing some games with us and after that, he asked us to come up a word that represents us the most. Ive come up the word ANIMALS as I love animals sooooooooooo much until I can't tell. They're too cute for me! So right after we come out the word, we were to write as many words that represent the word ANIMALS the most.

This is the list of ANIMALS I've written to...
-FOODS
-FURCOATS
-MUDS
-WILDLIFE
-AFRICA
-HABITATS
-KITTY
-LEATHER
-CARNIVORES
-PET SHOP
-EXTINCTION
-WOODS
-ZOO
-HUNTING
-DOGS
-STINKY
-OMNIVORES
-MAROON 5

Here is the idea journal of my ANIMALS...

After that, we were to choose three words from all of the words and then, SKETCH a minimum of FIVE drawings of each words that represents ANIMALS. It was kinda fun for me because I chose DOGS, WILDLIFE , and FUR COATS . Not long after, I drew some sketches of it and here you are... the sketches :)

 Dogs

Wildlife

Wildlife

Fur Coats

One week has passed and I showed these sketches to Mr. Charles. After looking the sketches, Mr Charles told me to impress him with my wildlife sketches and make a mask from the word WILDLIFE. It took me a few hours to figure out how will mask be because I will definitely not create a normal animal mask! I figured out and decided to create a mask of  a WOLF because the characteristic of a wolf represents me a lot which is being coward, timid sometimes but it'll be furious and even kill its victims at times. Moreover, I sketch some of the ideas of a wolf and here you go...

Ideas for my upcoming mask

My wolf mask!

After all the hustling and struggling of coming out the idea, I started molding my face  into a structure of a wolf and then make a mask from it. I also paper mache it and then plaster it. It took a day to dry which is very SLOW! WTF!..Right after the mask dries up, I painted the structure of the mask with acrylics and also pasted colour papers to enhance the shape and also adds some edge into it. I collage it with a variety of bold colours and with different type of shapes because it reflects me the most which is always be cheerful and bold at times. I completed my mask and I would say, it is kinda nice as I would say. FUHHHH, a sigh of relief because assignment 2 is done! Hurray!! Hope to meet you guys very soon!
